National Military Circle

The Palace of National Military Circle on Calea Victoriei ( Romanian – Cercul Militar National / main designer – the Romanian architect Dimitrie Maimarolu) is the central cultural institution of the Romanian Army.

Its construction started in 1911 on the place of the former Sarindar Monastery , but the  official inauguration took place on the 4th of February 1923, in the presence of King Ferdinand I of Romania and Queen Mary of Romania.

Inside the Palace can be admired five halls with different architecture: Marble Hall, Moorish Hall, Byzantine Hall, Gothic Hall, Norwegian Hall and a marvellous marble staircase which leads the visitors to the halls.
